OPEN ENGINEERING ARCHIVE / 2026

Real engineering.
Young minds.

A home for the serious technical work of young engineers, builders, and problem solvers. We document what was built, how it works, and what the evidence shows.

01 / SUBMISSION PATHWAYS

Four routes.
One standard.

Choose the pathway that matches your organization and the kind of engineering work you want to submit.

Pathway labels describe the intended submission routes. They do not imply endorsement or formal affiliation by either organization; confirm eligibility and authorization before launch.

02 / EDITORIAL PRINCIPLES

More than credentials.
It's what you build.

IJYE is designed around the work itself: the decisions, iterations, evidence, and learning behind a technical result.

⌘

PRINCIPLE / 01

Real projects

Show the implementation, constraints, testing, and lessons—not just the final pitch.

◇

PRINCIPLE / 02

Technical rigor

Make methods, design choices, limitations, and evidence understandable to readers.

◎

PRINCIPLE / 03

Open access

Make published work discoverable and useful beyond the person who built it.

↗

PRINCIPLE / 04

Youth centered

Take young contributors seriously and give their work a durable public record.

03 / ELIGIBILITY

Work is the
credential.

THE ENGINEERING RECORD

HOW SUBMISSION WORKS

Evidence first.
Then review.

Submissions should make it possible to understand what was built, why it was built that way, and how the result was evaluated.

  1. 01

    Document the work

Prepare a clear manuscript with the problem, approach, implementation, results, and limitations.

  2. 02

    Include evidence

Where relevant, provide a repository, diagrams, test results, demonstrations, or supporting technical material.

  3. 03

    Follow the editorial process

Review the current submission requirements and eligibility route before sending your work.

Editorial note: Confirm the journal's current eligibility and nomination rules before submission. This draft intentionally avoids promising acceptance or implying that any manuscript has already been peer reviewed.

04 / YOUR WORK, DOCUMENTED

Choose your route.
Document the work.

IJYE's planned submission routes cover software and hardware engineering through Hack Club or SOTI. Confirm the applicable eligibility and process before submitting.
